Description
This is a simple and basic add-on that lowers particle density while in Ardenweald and some other optional zones to improve FPS. I may add some extra options in the future but for now this is a simple drag and drop and forget about it implementation.
Type ‘/afps‘ for addon information and additional chat commands.
But what exactly does this do?
A check is run whenever you enter/exit a zone to see if you’re in Ardenweald or another supported zone, if this returns true then certain graphics options (depending on the zone) will be tweaked on the fly to improve FPS without losing overall visual quality. Whenever you leave a supported zone your graphics settings will revert to their original values. It’s as simple as that!
Why would I need this?
Unfortunately Ardenweald and some other areas have a bunch of environmental particle effects that are not greatly optimized, especially on mid-range computers.
What zones does this support?
Ardenweald is supported by default. You can also enable support for some other optional zones such as the Spires of Ascension, Bastion Arena and the Fracture Chambers by typing ‘/afps full’ into chat. Typing ‘/afps lite’ will re-enable the addon for Ardenweald ONLY.
How can I toggle this on or off?
Easy! Just disable/enable the addon.
Something isn’t working right, what the heck?
No problem, please leave any feedback/bug reports either in the AddonsWoW discussion forums or drop me an email. This is the first time I’ve ever attempted to release an addon so there very well may be issues I haven’t noticed.
