Choga.IO Raid Score

What is Choga.IO?

Choga.IO is a tool that helps you answer questions like “How good is this player in queue?” or “Did this person get carried to their raid boss kills?”. The primary purpose of this tool is to make it simple to access information about how a player performs in general, as opposed to getting a one time snapshot of their performance from other tools. Choga.IO assigns scores to each player based on how many mistakes they make in raids and how well they perform throughput wise. 

Where can I see Choga.IO scores? 

Just install the addon and hover over a player anywhere in game! Choga.IO scores will show up in tooltips in raid, party, the world, communities, and in friends lists. You can also visit our website at https://choga.io 

How does Choga.IO find player scores?

Choga.IO looks at all public logs uploaded to Warcraft Logs and gathers stats on:

• When people get hit by mechanics that are completely their responsibility. (Think standing in fire, staying in bad swirlies, not dodging lines from the boss, falling off cliffs, etc.)
• How many boss kills a player has and at what difficulty
• What their best performance in terms of DPS or HPS is
• And more!

After stats are gathered, all player’s statistics are run through our algorithm to give each player a score. The higher your score, the better you should perform in raid! Choga.IO takes all pulls into account, not just kills. If a player dies 99/100 pulls but, but performs well during the kill on pull 100, their score will still be lower than other players patiently waiting and performing well pull after pull.

Our algorithm has a very heavy weight on mechanics as opposed to parse numbers. Namely, a player who parses 50% on a boss, but does all mechanics correctly will have a higher score than a player who parses 100 on a boss, but gets hit by swirlies every pull. Players who consistently do mechanics well and have high DPS / HPS numbers will have the highest Choga.IO scores.

Which mechanics are used when calculating scores?

We only look at mechanics which are the players sole responsibility. Any mechanic which others can cause you to mess up is excluded from our calculations. Think fire on the floor, or swirly coming at you, etc. If, for example, someone runs into you with something bad, or you die to lack of healing, or the tank steps out of range of the boss causing a wipe, we do not count this against you!

We look at all mechanics which cause significant damage to a player, not just the ones you die to. (Your healers may save you, but this might cause them to lose someone else!). If you use a large defensive and stand in a mechanic purposefully, this mechanic does not count against you. Only mechanics which cause significant damage to your player count.

Additionally, we do not consider any mechanic that happens after 3 deaths in the fight. This prevents us from penalizing you for dying after a wipe.

How does my damage or healing factor into scores?

Your damage and healing are also factored in when calculating your score. Your raw parse percent at the time of your boss kill is used when calculating your score. Note, parses are weighed much less than mechanics, but a player with great mechanics and great parses will have better scores than a player missing one or the other.

If a character does very little damage (think hitting the boss once at the start of the fight, then jumping off a cliff and getting carried), then the player will not get any score for this kill.

How does the difficulty of a boss factor into scores?

Harder boss kills will get you a higher score than easier bosses. It is much harder to perform well on Mythic difficulty as opposed to LFR, and scores reflect this reality. That being said, having a boss kill on some difficulty is better than never having killed a boss at all. Performance on all difficulties are considered when calculating your score.

If you perform better on a higher difficulty, your score for the lower difficulties are automatically increased to match your performance at the higher difficulty.

For example, let’s say you killed a boss on Mythic, never messed up, and got a 100% parse. Let’s say you also killed a boss on Heroic, stood in bad in one out of the two pulls you had, and got a 90% parse. Your score in this case, would be identical to someone who never messed up and got 100% parses on all difficulties.

Another example, let’s say you killed a boss on Mythic, stood in bad in one out of the two pulls you had, and got a 50% parse. You also killed the boss on Heroic with a 100% parse and no mistakes. Your score would use your Mythic kill as normal (50% parse and 50% mistake ratio) and your Heroic kill as normal (100% parse and 0% mistake ratio). You would also get 100% parse and 0% mistake ratio for Normal and LFR.

What does my score mean?

A higher score is, of course, better! Scores scale exponentially, so someone who performs very well in Mythic will have a score which is much higher than someone who only does Normal raid. You can use the color of a score to judge how good it is. Golden colors are the top .0001% of everyone in the game. Pink colors are the top 1%, Orange colors are the top 5%, Purple colors are the top 25%, Blue colors are the top 50%, Green colors are the top 75%, everyone else is Gray.
