Description
NoseBag…
is a lightweight addon that makes feeding your pet in Burning Crusade Classic a little easier. Just drag the button where you want it and drop your pet’s food onto it. Whenever your pet’s Happiness falls below maximum, Nosebag will remind you to feed it. Just click the button and you’re done. Unlike more complex addons, NoseBag deliberately avoids trying to manage your inventory, filter available foods or display customized emotes. It does one thing in the least intrusive way we could think of.
Pet Alert Sounds
By default, NoseBag uses a short bark to alert you that your pet is hungry. You can also elect to automatically use an alert sound that’s appropriate to your pet’s type. Finally, you can use a custom sound of your own by placing a file called custom.mp3 in ..\Interface\Addons\NoseBag\assets. Be aware that some addon updaters may delete everything before installing a new version, so back up your custom.mp3 file before you update NoseBag.
Note: Because of the way pet family names are reported in the Blizzard API, they need to be localized. It’s important that the localized names match the names used by the game. If NoseBag can’t find a localized pet family name, it will use the default bark sound instead. This will happen if there’s no localization available yet for your client.
If there is a localized family name but it’s incorrect, no sound will play. If this happens, please open an issue with the name for the pet family as you see it in the tooltip for your pet so that we can correct the translation. Thanks!
Why doesn’t NoseBag filter for pet food preferences?
Simple. If you try to feed your pet a Scroll of Stamina, it will tell you it doesn’t like it and you’ll put something else onto the button. Same thing with preferred foods. If your pet doesn’t like something, you’ll put a different food on the button. There’s really not much to be gained by filtering what goes on the button. But there could be plenty of downside. If, at some future date, Blizzard decides to change food preferences or item IDs, you could find yourself with legit food that NoseBag refuses to put on the button. So NoseBag is completely agnostic about items. You’re smart. NoseBag doesn’t need to be smart for you.
Why doesn’t NoseBag do XXX for me?
NoseBag was intended to make feeding your pet more convenient. That’s all it does. There are already some great one-button pet management macros out there and NoseBag doesn’t really need to do those things. Here are a couple we use all the time:
All in one Mend, Call, Revive
/cast [@pet,noexists] Call Pet; [@pet,dead] Revive Pet; [@pet,exists,mod] Dismiss Pet; Mend Pet
Convenient targeter
/targetenemy [noharm][dead]
/petattack
/cast Hunter’s Mark
Why don’t I see the button on my level 1 hunter?
Since the button isn’t useful until you have a pet, NoseBag hides it until you’re level 10. As
soon as you level, the button should show up.
Localization
Translators are encouraged to use the AddonsWoW localization system. Please post a comment on the project page with the credit you would like us to add to the project description and to readme.txt.
IMPORTANT: The pet family names in the localization file are used to select alert sounds for the PET TYPE sound setting. The localized versions of these names need to match the pet family names used in your client exactly.
